Request a Certificate from Italy
You only pay full price if we find your certificate
The total cost to find and deliver a certificate is US$60.
- To start each search, we require a deposit of US$20.
- When we obtain the certificate, you must pay the remaining balance of US$40 before we mail it to you.
Additional copies can be requested for US$20 each, but this charge is not due until they are ready to deliver. Some Vital Records offices (like Rome and Naples) will only send one copy at a time. In those cases, it will take longer to obtain the extra copies.
If we do NOT obtain the certificate (or the additional copies), you owe nothing further!
Information Required to Begin
When you submit your request, you MUST provide the following details:
- The FIRST and LAST NAME of the ancestor in question.
- The DATE or DATE RANGE (not more than 10 years) of the birth, marriage or death. Please be as precise as you can. If the date that you send to us is incorrect, the archives may not find the record, or it could take them much longer.

- The name of the TOWN or CITY (in Italy ONLY) where the birth, marriage or death took place. The province or region IS NOT enough, because each town has its own records. If the location you send to us is incorrect, the archives will not be able to find the record. If you need help narrowing it down, please follow the link below.

- The names of the PARENTS are not required, but you should include them if possible.
Using the information you send us, ICGS will prepare a written request on your behalf and mail it to the appropriate Italian city's official archives.
The response time varies from city to city (over 8,000 in Italy), but in most cases, we receive requested certificates within 8-10 weeks.
Please Note: If you make a mistake with your order, or if you otherwise change your mind, you may request a full refund of this deposit within the first 30 days after your order. After this time, the deposit becomes NON-REFUNDABLE.
