You can view this website (in Italian): http://www.poliziadistato.it/pds/cittadino/stranieri/st2.htm I...

Is it difficult to get the Pdis and residency in Italy? I have been in Greece for 10 months with my husband trying to get him Greek citizenship and we are giving up because he is missing some papers. My family is applying for Italian in SF - but I might try myself in Italy if it is faster. Getting ...

Yes, you must have a valid permesso di soggiorno before applying for residency. Please see my other response to "getting residency."

Take care,
Melinda.

How does one get residency in italy to live there? I want to wait there for my citizenship to come thorugh , either by applying through the US or in Florence where I'm going in a month and staying. When I'm there, I know I can get the permisso...s. (I don't remember how to spell it), but then resid...

Yes, you're right...I meant "Residency." :-)

Definitely keep in touch...which city are you planning on going to in Italy to get residency?

Take care,
Melinda.

My translations were accepted without question by the SF Consulate. At any rate, I believe that they review the translations; however, if you want to be absolutely certain you should really call the consulate in question.

Good luck,
Melinda.

I absolutely agree that ICGS did a great job!

I got all of my documents translated into Italian and the SF consulate had already heard of them and knew that their translations were perfect!

THANKS!!!

Well...good news! The rule in Florence is just that you must have a valid Permesso di soggiorno (Permit to stay) and be an official resident here. I went to the wrong office yesteryday...and today I went to the right office and got information. I'm supposed to bring all my documents, apostilles, tra...

Re: applying in Italy

Has anyone applied for citizenship in Italy or know how to do it? I have heard many contradicting things about the process. It has been such a nightmare wait here! I was told that it would probably be quicker to apply in Italy. I agree with you that the late is extremely long and at times almost ri...

Re: Chicago consulate

Does anyone have any specific experience with the Chicago consulate? I have almost everything, except translations. the e-mail response from them was that they could not recommend a translator. I do not know if that means they will accept whatever translator I hire, or not. There are also several m...

Re: Consulate

Thanks for the info. Melinda I sent an e-mail to the New York Consulate and they said they would get back to me - I'll let you know what happened. In the mean time I'm going to keep trying to get ahold of the SF Consulte and will probably go there with my mom and sons and try to drop everything off...

My uncle (my mother's brother) is applying as well. He lives in New York City and since most of our documents are from New York City I was wondering if we could all apply with him through the New York Consulate. You might want to check with the consulate. If your uncle gets citizenship, that means ...

She promised that our Italian citizenship papers would be ready in 3 months! We thought that was a bonus we had not anticipated and were very happy with her projection. OK, I could cry!! At the SF embassy the wait when I talked to them back in July 2004 was already 1-2 years! I'm happy for you! Let...

Is there anyone who has actually been able to make an appointment at the San Francisco Consulate? Are they even making appointments? I went to the SF Consulate back in July last year and dropped off all of my documents for citizenship. Things went rather smoothly. Unfortunately, I did hear that the...
