Re: Loosing all patience with the LA consulate! Anyone agree??

I submitted docs in june 2007 and received my letter of recognition in late september 2008, so it took over 1 year. Be patient and if I were you just give it time, dont hassle with trying to check the status, it will happen, just be patient, I know its difficult. Good luck!

Re: Los Angeles Consulate experiences?

FYI (time frames) I submitted documents in June, 2007 at the LA consulate and received the recognition letter in September, 2008. So it took 1 years, 3 months. Applying for the passport was fast. Of course, when you get the recognition letter it will say to wait 2 months to apply for your passport, ...

Dear thechef65,

I recently received the letter from the LA consulate that stated that my citizenship was approved, and then it said that I could apply for a passport in 2 months. Was your letter similar? Is that because it takes so long for the documents to be registered in the comune?

Thanks!

Hi,

I just wanted to get a feel of the processing time. I submitted my documents in June, 2007 and have not heard anything yet. Has anyone else out there submitted their docs also in 2007, any replies yet or information?

Thanks!!

When I had my appointment over a year ago, she only asked for documents pertaining to the Italian side.

Yes, they do. Go to their webpage and they have a list of recommended translators. I used Alberto Cioni.

I had a interview for citizenship through family (great-grandfather) in June, 2007. I was told it would take about 2 years as they were working on 2005 applications at that time.

Hi there, I did not require a "no records" letter from USCIS because my GG died in 1903. USCIS only has records from 1906 and on so in my case there is nothing I could get from USCIS. I did however, submit a letter with my documents from USCIS stating that they only have records from 1906 ...

I had to do the same thing. I got "no records" letters from NARA in the three places that my GG lived while in the states........NY, San Fran. and LA. I had them do a search of his real name and his more american name...Luigi and Louis. So I got the letters, took them to a notary and had t...

Dear AA,

I just submitted my docs at the LA consulate and they wanted my mother's marrriage and divorce documents from her marriage before my father. We had to get those translated and apostilled. So, yes, they do want divorce documents on the Italian side.

Hope that helps!

Dear Al,

First of all, USINS does not have records prior to 1906. For that you have to have the National Archives check. That's all I can help you with. I dont know where at USINS you must contact for records from 1906 on.

Good luck!

If your ancestor was naturalized, not naturalized, died, etc. prior to 1906, the USINS does not have records prior to that date. You must go to NARA to prove non-naturalization or naturalization. My great-grandfather died in 1903. I was lucky enough to find a 1900 census in which his naturalization ...

Hope for the LA consulate!!! Yeah!!

Well, I contacted Monica Pescatori via telephone today. She was very pleasant! I told her of my last contact with Raffaela Buiano and that I am scheduled to submit citizenship documents in June. She looked at a list, I'm assuming, and verified that I am marked down for June and she stated that she w...

Dear Dave,

Were you able to get your appointment date and time by going to the LA consulate in person? Mine is set for sometime in June but getting the specific date and time has been fruitless.
