Here's my problem: He made a declaration of intent, but never did naturalize. What documents do I need for this considering I probably won't get a "no records" letter because of the declaration of intent. I do have a 1930 census stating his status as "alien" when his son (my gran...

THANK YOU! I will ALSO be flying to Chicago from Denver. :D I am still gathering documents, so I haven't made an appointment yet. How did you make your appointment? Do you call?

Re: Citizenship via Great Great Grandfather

Wow...so to fix the problems, did you have to physically go back to the consulate each time? I thought you just need something that says "no records." What did they not like?

Re: Chicago Consulate appointments and processing time?

Did they just give you an appointment time you had to make it to, or can you negotiate a mutually convenient time? I mean, I will have to request off work, buy a plane ticket, arrange lodging and a car....I'm worried about this.

Re: Italian Translation

The application for the Chicago consulate just says "must be professionally translated into Italian." So what qualifies as professional? Anything special? I could probably do it myself.....

Re: Citizenship via Great Great Grandfather

Congratulations! It is nice to know they arranged to fix any problems instead of just denying the application. That makes me feel a LITTLE better. How far in advance were your meetings with the consulate? I mean, I will have to travel out of state to meet with my consulate, so this is something of c...

Re: Citizenship via Great Great Grandfather

THANK YOU! I'm just so nervous about following every instruction perfectly on my application. It's nerve-wracking. Anyone know if you can apply again if something is not right the first time? :?

Re: Citizenship via Great Great Grandfather

HELP! I keep reading that I qualify through my great great grandfather, but the application from the consulate only allows me to select back as far as a great grandparent. My great grandfather was born in the U.S. to 2 Italian citizens (my great great grandparents). How should I go about filling out...
