Often, the Declaration of Intent was filed in the local county court. You can check with the local county court where your ancestor lived, or the local archives office (if there is one) to find out. You can also try requesting a copy of your ancestor's immigration file. I got my great-grandfather's ...

I had some stuff done there two years ago. I dealt with someone there named Mona.

Each person can only apply through the consular jurisdiction in which they live. Perhaps the best thing to do is have everyone get appointments in their respective jurisdictions, and whoever makes it through first can help the others.

Some comune have processed requests and others aren't even aware of it. There are a few experiences with this posted at ...

I seem to recall reading several months ago either on this list or another that the legislation you speak of didn't go anywhere. Don't take my word for it, though.

Does anyone out there have experience dealing with the Miami Counselor's office? I am currently in Italy getting birth certificates. I also understand that this office requires all documentation to be translated into Italian. I would appreciate any help. Kindest regards, Jim Zocco currently at the ...

From another list:

"You can't apply for citizenship in Italy unless you have residence here, which involves getting a visa, then PDiS, then residency. Otherwise you have to go through your regional Italian consulate in the US."
