Re: Early Christmas present from SF!!!

Did they re-issue a corrected letter for your wife? Once they confirm that they've got things straight with my name, I'll go apply for a passport and I assume I really won't really need the letter for myself after that. However, my sister and niece applying in NYC/Newark may need it, so just wonderi...

Sibling/Neice applications after my recognition?

FYI, I'm cross posting this on a couple of the forums to see if someone has experience with this particular situation... Anyway, so now that my sister and I have received our letters from the SF consulate, my other sister and her adult daughter are interested in applying as well. My sister is in the...

Early Christmas present from SF!!!

I can't believe I'm finally writing my own success story - The day finally arrived and the recognition letter from the SF consulate was in my mailbox today!!! My sister also received hers today as well! I started the research back in late 2006 when my mother told me her father didn't naturalize unti...

Re: Anyone from San Francisco?

Hi Ellana,

My sister and I applied in SF last year, so hoping to have the "letter" in hand within the next few months. I live in the bay area and would be happy to give you advice, etc. I'll shoot you a PM with my direct email address.

Re: Descrepancy List - SF

If you do nothing other than list the discrepancies, worst case is the SF consulate will make you file amendments or affidavits post application. Best case is they will just let it slide. Fortunately in my case Anna Maria did the latter as I had a major discrepancy in my GF's last name - his birth r...

Re: Scheduling appointment for SF

Wow, 2 years to get an appointment in SF! They must be really spacing them out or getting inundated with appointment requests. My nine month wait was nothing compared to that (my appointment was in May 2008). I had a number of discrepancies that were "blessed" by Anna Marie, but hope they ...

Re: Surname changed upon entry

My GF went by Dorso in the US, but his Italian birth record came back as Dores. I was really worried about this before my appointment as there was no way to get all the documents changed. However, his other info such as birth date and place on his naturalization papers matched his birth record, so t...

USCIS Naturalization Docs FYI

Posted this on Italylink as well, so just posting here as well as an FYI - While I was still gathering docs for citizenship in 2008 and didn't yet have my GF's naturalization papers, I filed a FOIA request with USCIS in August of 2008. Some time afterwards, I fortunately located the documents in Luz...

Hmmm, if the new app processing is March/April, that would be great as I applied in May..... :)

Small piece of advice - do not make any corrections until you have all your documents in hand. You may end up finding different names, etc on older docs...

In the early 1900's immigrants could be naturalized in city, county or federal courts. This info came from NARA after I queried them on my GFs naturalization docs. In my case, I found my GFs docs in the county prothonotary clerk's office (they had it on microfilm). They made copies, embossed sealed,...

I listed the discrepancies by document in chronological order, starting with the oldest doc first. Ms. Stone seemed to notice most of the discrepancies while she was going through the documents, so looked at my discrepancy list towards the end and only briefly. She was VERY forgiving on all the disc...

Yup, used Gabriella as well. Reasonable, accurate & fast. Send her an introductory email and let her know what you need done and by when. Scan your docs and send them over. You'll then also have an electronic record of all your docs....
