Houston Consulate?

Has anyone applied for Italian citizenship at the Houston Consulate after Sept 2010? Did you get any response at all from the Consulate? Many thanks, Peggy M

Unfortunately for me, I am applying through my paternal grandfather and my father. So I'm sure I need to address the issue of my father's not having a birth certificate. I haven't given up hope, but there is a real possibility that my Dad's official birth certificate does not exist. I wrote to USCIS...

Hi!

I also am having a similar problem. If you care to read about it, please see my post "No birth certificate for my father".

Please let me know what the NYC consulate says. I am planning on phoning them today about my own problem and if I get an answer, I will share.

Hi Someday!

Do you know from personal experience that

Try this: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-639.pdf May I suggest that if your relative was naturalized you might do better--in the sense of getting the docs more quickly--to request the documents from NARA. Of course, each person's situation is different and this may not be good for your case. Peg

Question about Italian first (given) names

My father's US baptismal certificate gives his mother's first name as Luigia. However, today I found her original birth record from Italy (via microfilm) and her first names are Teresa Alida Luigia. She always referred to herself as Luigia. Was it typical not to use one's given first name? She was b...

I forgot to say that my father got a US passport in 1992 without a birth certificate. The passport gives his birthplace as Illinois. His older brother, who was then alive, swore an affidavit that my father was born at their home in Chicago and that he remembered the birth and this was accepted inste...

Thanks. I will try calling the consulate (NYC). As I see it, the birth certificate establishes both US birth and who the parents are. My father was born in Chicago. As I read the rules on the Vital Records website for Cook County (where Chicago is), only the person involved can file a delayed birth ...

No birth certificate for my father

Hi! My father does not seem to have an official birth certificate. He was born of Italian parents in Illinois in 1916. I don't think they registered his birth. I have his baptismal certificate. The Church where he was baptized still exists and has an archivist, so I think I can get a notarized copy ...
