But how in the world is it possible that ANYONE could obtain their dual citizenship? Because to me, the swtiching from Italian names such as Caterina to Katherine or Catherine most likely has occured on most everyone's ancestors documents while passing a few generations span. We are talking about a...

Re: Misspelled name

I would also think how many differnent spellings that they are. I know when I went to the NYC consulate 2 years ago, my application was stopped when there were 3 different spellings of my great grandmother name ( who I wasn't even claiming citizenship from) My surname also has an Apostrophe, which d...

The review of my case stopped when there were 3 different spellings of my great grandmothers name. What happened next? Did you have to make changes, did you give up? Many thanks, Peggy M I managed to get some of these names corrected, but as I have been posting, there are numerous other problems wi...

I would also see if other items on the petition check out, I have the Orginal Oath from 1901 however when obtaining the petition of naturalization, none of the facts check out, the birthdate is wrong, his occupation and address are wrong. Even the spelling of the name is questionable. And yet it can...

Using natrualization documents from 1901

I have posted before and all seem to be in agreement that I would qualify under category 11 via great great grandfather ( But no one here has done it this way) Has anyone used a natrualization record for the naturalized relative from 1901 or earlier ? For what it is worth, I have had the consulate issue a letter, for a few of my ancestors in order to get birth/death records, I received these in 2005.

Also perhaps trying the local town records as opposed to the NYS records, you may have better luck there.
