Do you have to work with the nearest consulate, or...?

My nearest Italian consulate is San Francisco, CA. By what I've read on this website they are a very slow-moving Consulate and there is about a 3 year backup for processing applications. Must I use this Consulate, or would I be able to, say, fly down to LA (assuming they are quicker - I haven't chec...

Mailing or copying citizenship papers - against the law?

Is it illegal in the USA to copy or mail citizenship paper? My mother, who lives on the other side of the country from me, has some documents regarding her italian-born father's naturalization.
