Passport Application--New York

I recently obtained citizenship for myself and my son through the New York Consulate, and we're getting ready to apply for our passports. He is 14 years old and will be getting his own passport, not being added to mine. My understanding is that I need a "Passport Issuance-renewal form for adult...

How Long Are Certificates of Good Conduct Good For?

I recently became an Italian citizen jure sanguinis through the NY Consulate. My wife and I are now in the process of applying for her to become an Italian citizen. We have an appointment with the consulate on May 18th. In preparation for the appointment, we have obtained criminal record background ...

Re: Using document ordering services

The guy behind the scenes at Italiandualcitizenship.com (aka "Italiamerica") is Nicola Colella. He's a terrific guy, and very helpful. I didn't have any problem with my documents not being found, so I don't know what their policy is in this regard. I do know that Nicola is a class act.

Re: NY State Vital Record Correction for Deceased?

New York State will allow the amendment of a death certificate by the person who gave the information for the original death certificate (the "reporter"). I was able to amend my father's death certificate because I was the reporter for the original death certificate (I gave the information...

Re: Using document ordering services

I would highly recommend the use of ITALIANDUALCITIZENSHIP.com. They got me my documents exceedingly fast. I originally ordered my grandparents' birth certificates from Italy through myitaliancitizenship.com, which was the lower priced option. I got a major runaround from them regarding how busy the...

Re: New York Consulate Success Story

As my father's son, I was able to obtain his death certificate. I was able to amend it because I was the original "reporter" for the death certificate. I used my aunt (i.e., my grandfather's daughter and the reporter for his death certificate) to obtain and amend my grandfather's death cer...

Re: Passport Question

Thanks! My son will be really excited to hear this! Anything tricky about filling out the application? Do I just fill out a separate application for him? I'm assuming that my wife (who has not yet received her Italian citizenship) will have to sign off on his application somewhere?

Passport Question

Having just obtained citizenship at the New York Consulate for myself and my 13-year-old son, I'm trying to figure out if we each get our own passport or if he is just "added" to my passport. It would appear from the passport application forms that he is added to mine, and I'm trying to co...

Re: New York Consulate Success Story

FYI--I used the services of italiandualcitizenship.com. They obtained my Italian documents, translated my American ones, and just in general provided lots of good advice and encouragement. Nicola Colella runs the business from Brussels--he's a great guy and is very knowledgeable about the process. I...

Re: New York Consulate Success Story

I applied through my father's line--his father was born in Italy in 1895, emigrated to US in 1914, my father was born in 1919 and my grandfather was naturalized in 1925. I had some spelling discrepancies (extra letter added to the last name after arrival in US). I was able to amend 90 percent of my ...

Re: New York Consulate Success Story

Forgot to mention, for those that are interested: I had two meetings with the consulate: October 2008 (I was sent back to get additional documentation), and then January 13, 2009. I had my letter confirming citizenship 17 days after the second meeting.

New York Consulate Success Story

Got the letter for myself and my son today (1/30/09). Started late February 2008, about 11 months altogether. Very Exciting! I'm going to proceed to get passports for me and my son, and apply for cititzenship for my wife. Woo-hoo!!!
