Re: Passport Success

You haven't explained why you need to be that smart alec. Most of those in this forum are kind and knowledgeable people that are capable of intelligently debating each other without malice. You are the first that has been openly rude and spiteful. Whether or not you are right is irrelevant at this p...

Re: Passport Success

What do they say, "ask a silly question, get a silly, or in this case, sarcastic, answer"... You're quite the arse...just the same as every other forum wanker who needs to stroke his own ego to prove a point. What's your problem? You could have easily phrased your original response in a m...

Re: Can I send the documents on my own after appointment

Oh I see. I either didn't see it or I don't think that you mentioned that your mother was a citizen. I just read about the great grandfather connection with your Zio and was under the impression that the connection was more distant. Apologies. Anyways, I would think that you would have a very easy t...

Re: Passport Success

There are these things.... they are called computers. When they scan your foreign electronic passport, all your info will correlate you to your US info in their computer. It's quite simple really. You know, generally its poor form to kick into sarcastic smart **** mode before we have even had a hea...

Re: Loosing all patience with the LA consulate! Anyone agree??

Zagnut, I share your wish that Italy changes its political course. I'm waiting impatiently for the next election so I can make my voice heard. Amen to that. Politics in general in Italy are getting disturbing, though the Lega Nord is nothing new. Here is common poster that they use at rallies for t...

Re: Passport Success

Haha...This was quite a treat to read. Well done...Now that we have established (?) the law, does anyone have any examples of how immigration officials have reacted in specific cases? Also, how would the immigration officials know someone is a US citizen if they were not born in the US (For example,...

Re: Can I send the documents on my own after appointment

I think that, in North America and Europe at least, you need to physically attend your appointment unless you live very far away from the consulate of your jurisdiction. That being said, if you go to Spain I would apply there rather than Argentina because there is supposed to be a huge backlog of a ...

My point exactly. Obviously its still silly to try and enter a country with another passport under these circumstances...but the actual punishment seems to be left to interpretation on a case by case basis.

Re: Passport Success

The penalties for entering the US without a US passport seem to vary. I know one friend who was given a slap on the shoulder essentially and allowed to enter as a tourist, while another was barred from entering and had to fly back home. Anyone know what the actual legal penalty is? I'm very curious.

Re: Loosing all patience with the LA consulate! Anyone agree??

Sigh. Seems like everyone here already has their passport? I have yet to read a post from anyone else who was disappointed r by the SF consulate the way that I was . Needless to say, socio-economic status has not benefitted my application in any way whatsoever as I have tried to pull that car...

Re: Loosing all patience with the LA consulate! Anyone agree??

haha I wasn't expecting so much flak for the passport comment :D . Anyways, my mates here thought that, were it not for the biometric symbol, that it looked like it was straight out of a souvenir shop. I know this sounds absurd to people who have lived in America their wholes lives, but I have only ...

Re: Loosing all patience with the LA consulate! Anyone agree??

Why lose patience at all? Why let the process drive you to such despair? Why be so attached to the outcome? You want to leave the greatest country on Earth? Would it be so lamentable if one's Italian roots remained "unrecognized"? It's a fluke of law that the option of dual-citizenship ex...

Re: Help! Will this block my application?

Thanks for your advice Em! Everything has been sorted out now actually, and we are back on the same page. That's a good point with the marriage certificate too actually. If they allow him to register first I may just take my application out and apply again in London if its faster than amending. We'l...

Re: Plz help me....its really killing me..

You need to be an actual EU citizen to be able to freely move to the UK. If you move right now you will be at step one as a new alien in the UK. I have lived on and off in the UK for several years and your best bet for emigrating there would be to get a tier-1 visa which covers entrepreneurs and gen...

Re: Help! Will this block my application?

Thanks for your response Tiffany! I should clarify the history a bit. We applied together through San Francisco two years ago, and all of the sudden last month they came back and said that we had to amend certain name discrepancies and that they had lost my grandparents' marriage certificate. What i...
