Re: Document errors & corrections

If you are applying at the NY consulate, you should definitely try to fix these. It sounds like your documents are from NYC - is that right? Is your grandfather living? If so, he should be able to apply for a change to his birth certificate. Information is available here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh...

Re: Citizenship for my adult children

Thank you both for your responses. So, can I just use photocopies of what she submitted to her consulate, or do I need official copies with apostille? I live in another state so I will be applying in a different place. Thank you!

Am I supposed to get copies of my mother's birth and marriage certificates in Italian (rather than t...

Re: Final Step, What is it?

If any of your documents originated in the jurisdiction of another consulate (e.g. a document from NY), then Signor Corrao will have to send the document to that consulate for approval first. If not, he'll probably send them directly to your comune (once he's read through them to his satisfaction). ...

Re: Philadelphia Consulate

Does anyone think it would be worthwhile or possible to try to take care of this step myself before submitting my application? I will be applying in DC but almost all of my documents are from New York. I plan to travel up to NYC this summer to get the notarizations and apostilles, should I also try ...

Re: Birth year discrepancy

Thanks, Tiffany. That's kind of what I thought too - one year doesn't seem like it should be too important when the dates match up and all the other info is consistent. If anyone else had experience with a similar discrepancy, I'd be interested to hear about it. Otherwise I'll just go in with the do...

Applying in Washington, DC

Hello - I have begun the process of gathering my documents and have a few questions. I am applying through my GGF (born in Italy), GM (born in US before GGF naturalized), M (born after 1948). After consulting with the embassy in DC, my understanding is that I only need to gather documents for my dir...

Re: Naturalization in Bronx County Supreme Court

Thank you. This is very helpful. I don't think my GGF is in the database. There is a "Ralph [surname]," which was his Americanized name, but the document my family has shows that his naturalization was granted in his Italian name, Raffaele. I think I will submit the request form using the ...

Naturalization in Bronx County Supreme Court

Hello - I am just getting started on this process and was hoping for some advice. A family member located my great-grandfather's original certificate of naturalization, which dates from 1927 and was granted by the Supreme Court in Bronx County. I understand that I risk losing the original document i...
