I applied at the SF Consulate on May 2009. Lots of paperwork coming from Peru and the US. I just got an email from Mrs. Stone saying that everything looks good and that the only thing I need to send back is a long form of my divorce decree and a form named "richesta di trascrizione atto di divo...

Thats great! So I guess they send the documents for certification to the Italian Consulate in Tokyo, in your case, did they tell you how much that ususally takes?, mine will be sent to Peru.

I have same situation, applying through my maternal GGF, who moved to Peru, I m here in the US and when I contacted the Italian Embassy in SF, Mrs. Stone told me that it was possible as long as I sent her my greencard or passport form the US, in your case I'm assuming it would be the letter the Dept...

thanks for the info tonyric, I would try to get a hold of malcom. I was a little bit confused since all of my documents from Peru were certified by the Italian Embassy there, so I dont know if Mrs Stone would send the documents back to them for verification or what?
