Court Order to Change Names on Birth/Death Certificates

Hi,

I'd like to know if anyone has filed a Petition in NY State Supreme Court to have a name changed on a Vital Record. I'm trying to file a petition, and I'd like to know the format and if anyone found a lawyer willing to help on if they did it pro se.

Grazie
Pat

husband's divorce

Yes, that's right. If he decided to become a citizen, then they may ask for these documents. Otherwise, they don't need them.

the comune

HI Tiffany,

the comune in which this will be registered is Nola, Provincia di Napoli. But, again, I don't know if they are going to want the divorce decree and letter of no contest from my husband.

Caita

It could be. If they spoke a dialect, it could have sounded like this. But in any case, unless you have a very understanding interviewer, you probably will have to do corrections.

Divorce of a non-Italian spouse

Hi, I posted on another question about divorce. My husband is not Italian, but as I said on the other post, our marriage is also his second. His status did not effect my application. However, the consular official said that some Comunes may want his divorce decree and no-appeal info. before they wou...

Divorce

When I applied as a divorced and re-married woman, I did have to give them the divorce decree and no-appeal letter. I gave them my husband's birth certificate. He was also married before, and, of course, our long-form marriage license states this. The consular official said that when my documents ar...

divorce

Hi, Peggy is right Believe me, things surface when you least expect it. But there is another reason to tell them about this. Did you take your ex-husband's name when you married? If you did and you did not go back to your cognome da nubile (maiden name), they will ask you why you changed your name. ...

Italian woman marries US citizen before l948

I think Em can help me on this one. My half brother's mother married her American husband before l948. He is trying to apply for Italian citizenship. I thought that if an Italian women married an alien prior to l948, she lost her Italian citizenship, but that it could be reacquired by making a simpl...

Minor children adopted by Italian citizens automatically acquire Italian citizenship. The Order of Adoption and the birth certificate (original) of the child must be registered in the Corte per Minorenni. Adoption what you need

Hi Josephine, According to the letter that I received from NY, you need a copy of your original birth certificate and a copy of the adoption degree from the Surrogate's Court. However, if you are from NY, this might not be possible. I'm in NYC for a week, but when I go back to Long Island, I'll find...

Notarized translations

If the documents presented are documents from US Courts (divorce, name changes, adoptions, etc.), they have to be notarized with a "jurat" notarization. These are necessary for the clerk of NY to further give authentification. My divorce translations had to have this jurat, and the NY Cler...
