USCIS G-1041 Index Search or G-639 Request?

Postby Patricia3 » Thu Jul 02, 2009 4:48 pm

Does anyone know if the Ital Gov't accepts the USCIS Form G-1041 index search in lieu of the USCIS form G-639 form. In reading the FAQ How do I get a certificate of naturalization for my Italian ancestor?, only the G-639 request is mentioned. I requested the much quicker Index Search when it was begun about a year or so ago and received a response from USCIS of "no record" I'm wondering if this would be acceptable. Any input is very much appreciated.

The G-1041 has replaced the G-639 program. Unless your ancestor natutalized after 1956 the G-1041 is the only way to go.

The USCIS web site explains all
