Any way to qualify?

Postby corinna » Thu Apr 14, 2011 8:53 am

I just received notification that my great-grandfather naturalized before my grandfather's birth. So I am not eligible through him for citizenship. Could I be eligible through my great-grandmother if she never naturalized?
Great-grandmother born in Italy 1887
Grandfather born in US 1921
Mother born in US 1949
Me born in US 1969
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That wouldn't work because your great grandmother could not pass citizenship before 1948. Is there a possibility that you might qualify through your father's line? Or, would your mom's mother work?

I had my doubts about getting it through my great-grandmother but thanks for verifying it for me. Unfortunately, my grandfather is the only one with Italian heritage. My grandmother is Finnish & German. Having citizenship would have made the move to Italy so much easier in every aspect. Thank you for your help.
