Determine if an ancestor was ever naturalized and, if so, discuss your consulate's requirements for proving this.

Naturalization papers-original and copy

Postby donnars11 » Wed May 27, 2009 12:15 pm

I will eventually be going to the Philly consulate and I am still gathering all my certificates and paperwork. I am confused about the naturalization papers. I have the original in my possession for my grandfather and a copy of my grandmother's. Both naturalized in 1945. If I just make a copy of my grandfather's(I'd rather not hand the original over) and use the copy I have of my grandmother's will this do? I keep reading that they don't have to be certified. Yes, take the original to show them and give them a photocopy to keep.
