Microfilm or hard copy?

Determine if an ancestor was ever naturalized and, if so, discuss your consulate's requirements for proving this.

Microfilm or hard copy?

Postby JM » Sun May 31, 2009 5:32 pm

Hi to all,

I received my Italian citizenhip thru my mom's side of the family and had it recognized last year. (I'm still flashing the Italian passport to everyone I meet, and it's still not getting old for me!).

I wanted to start to trace my dad's side of the family now for my own interests. I have my grandmother's naturalization certificate but I can't find anything on my grandfather. My relatives can offer no help as they either never know or no longer remember. I'm going to apply thru USCIS for the records and I'm wondering if I should order the microfilm copy or the hard copy. The hard copy costs a little more. Is one a better version of the records? Anyone have opinions for one methood over the other?
