Consulate requirements + divorce docs

The first thing that I should say is that we are working with the Boston, MA. Consulate office---
my brother was told that he had to get all of his divorce documents translated into Italian before they are accepted -- Does anyone have any experience with this. It seems a little strange to me that the personal details regarding his divorce should have any bearing of his getting duel citizenship... so long as the divorce is final - why would that be a requirement ?

Dear AA,

I just submitted my docs at the LA consulate and they wanted my mother's marrriage and divorce documents from her marriage before my father. We had to get those translated and apostilled. So, yes, they do want divorce documents on the Italian side.

Hope that helps!
