Name Discrepancies

Both my maternal Grandparents were born in Italy, so I can claim citizenship through either. My Grandmother's last name is spelled wrong on her marriage certificate. Her birth certificate says "Maria" but all the American documents have her first name as Mary.

If I choose to apply though my Grandfather, will they overlook the misspellings in my grandmother's name? I tried to get them fixed but was told I would have to sue to get things changed. I will be applying through the Itailian Consulate.

Thanks,
