Certificato di trascorso

Postby steph6450 » Wed Nov 24, 2010 1:00 pm

Hi everyone. I have almost every document needed to apply for my Italian citizenship, but because I am applying in Toronto, they require the "Certificato di trascorso possesso della cittadinanza italiana". However, I am having a really difficult time tracking this down. As I understand it, I have to request it from the commune in which she was born. My grandmother was born in Udine, and I have managed to track down the Commune website, which is http://www.comune.udine.it.

However, my main problem is that I don't speak Italian, or know anyone who speaks it. I have tried navigating the website through **** Fish, and I have contacted a couple e-mail addresses through the website that sounded promising (in **** Italian, proofread with my moderate French), but I have not received a single reply.

So, if there is anyone out there with better Italian than me, or with experience applying for the Certificato di Trascorso who could point me in the right direction of how to acquire it, I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks!
Stephanie

I obtained my nonna's birth and marriage certificates from Comune di Udine. They never replied to my e-mails.

I faxed and mailed them in (poor internet translated) Italian and they provided the documents by way of post. I provided a reply paid envelope.

It took between two and four weeks.

If I was you, I would mail them. I wouldn't bother with e-mails or faxes - it's a waste of time.

http://www.italiandocs.com/ will provide you with a template for your request.
