Apostille, Translation, then Endorsement?

Postby jmarus » Sun Dec 26, 2010 4:43 am

For a US birth certificate and criminal background check, is the process?:

1. Get original document from government agency (i.e. birth certificate, criminal background check).

2. Send it back to the agency for apostille

3. Translate it.

4. Get apostille'd document and translation endorsed by Italian Consulate in the state where the documents were issued.

Did I get that right? And, what exactly do we get back from the Consulate once they've been endorsed?

Thanks for your help.

I have a similar question--how is the process, like this?:

1. Notarize docs (except birth certificates)
2. Order apostilles
3. Get amendments (for names etc)
4. Get translations

Mostly I am wondering if I order copies BEFORE getting affidavits for amendments to name discrepancies etc.

Thanks!
