NY CONSULATE- WHATS NEXT

Postby joe1234 » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:24 am

I just had my appointment at the consulate in NYC. My application was accepted and they took all my documents. They said I would receive something in the mail in a few weeks/months. I did not receive any confirmation or receipt from the transaction today though-- should I have? Has anyone on here been accepted once before? Can someone enlighten me on what happens next?

Any response is much appreciated!

Thank you,

Joe

The NY Consulate will send you a letter. Since August is a big vacation month expect to receive something by the end of September.

I have not heard a thing from the NYC consulate. I submitted my last documents on August 7. I will send them an e-mail after November 7 if I still have not heard.

I will post a summary of any correspondence I recieve.

This could be worse. It was not unusual to wait over a year for a response to a completed and accepted application.

My original meeting was 1 June, 2009. I received a letter in July asking a follow up question regarding my ancestor's certificate of nonexistence. I was asked to mail or drop off the requested documents. I mailed them certifed mail and the consulate received them on August 7th.

The optimistic view is that my papers are now in order and in the queue to be processed.
