Someday,

How many Web sites did you visit? On the sites for most Italian Consulates General, you will find a citizenship section outlining very generally the requirements for citizenship by descent. There is usually some mention of there being no generational limit. Most sites I have visited stop at the second degree only because it can then very easily be inferred what documents would be needed to support a claim through the third or higher degrees.

No new qualifications coming.

Someday,
I was a little bothered by the generalities on the new SF site. In the case of SF, they had a fax number for questions about qualifying and the requirements necessary. Faxes seem to get quick responses from the consulate. Also, the SF site posted more information as the weeks went by, maybe the site you're looking at hasn't put all of its information up yet. Hope this helps.
