Postby manning626 » Sat Oct 27, 2007 1:02 pm

Born 1886 in Bitetto

Lived in Brooklyn New York, Kings County

Married to Donata Loverro in Italy in 1912

On the 1930 Census he lists Naturalized, on his 1918 WWI draft card he lists Alien. My grandpa was already born at this time.

Sooo I am hoping to find this last piece of the puzzle. I found this on ancestory.com

Call or visit the National Archives in New York City (201 Varick Street, 12th Floor New York, NY 10014 (Entrance on Houston Street, between Varick and Hudson) Toll-free: 1-866-840-1752 or 212-401-1620 Fax: 212-401-1638 E-mail: newyork.archives@nara.gov

Ask them if it is likely that your ancester would have naturalized in the federal courts (in which case NARA should be able to provide a copy of the papers), or if it is more likely that he would have done so in the state courts. If the latter, ask where the archives for the relavant court are stored and then contact that agency.

In the case of my grandfather, for example, he was naturalized in the "Supreme Court of the State of New York" and his records were quickly found at the Westchester County, NY Archives.

Good Luck!

PS: "Demarco" or "De Marco"? Probably the latter, I would imagine...
