Looking for my family land in Italy

Postby Giancarlo84 » Sat May 09, 2009 4:39 am

My great-great-grandfather was from Basilicata at the time of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. I don't know from what city of Basilicata he was but I know he or his family owned some land there, Olive from what I hear from my family. Is there a way to look for land ownership records so I can find his city of birth?

It would be easier to request his records from the regional NARA. His alien records or citizenship file should state his birthplace.

That wouldn't help Zagnut. He came to Puerto Rico (Spanish colony by that time). And I already got a USCIS of "No record found" and a 1910 and 1920 Census that only says he was from South Italy.

You could try the Archivio di Stato of Basilicata.
