Dad got citizenship from NYC Consulate, but no letter yet

Postby giovanna » Tue Mar 06, 2007 12:34 pm

Hi all -- my father applied and was approved for Italian citizenship from the NYC Consulate, but they are taking MONTHS to send him his official acceptance letter (which I think he needs to apply for his Italian passport).

I have an appointment next week to apply for citizenship (based on my father's acceptance), but will the missing letter be a problem for me?

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

(I'm posting this in more than one place, so apologies for cross-posts!)

When did he apply? Did he receive a letter stating that his papers had been registered in the commune? If so, that should do it.

If they simply accepted his documents, you'll need to wait some more.

BTW, if you are applying in the same consulate, you need not wait for this.
