Is it possible the Jure Sanguinis law will be outlawed

I'm not planning on applying till at least 2012, and probably not till 2014 (and it's possible I might not apply till 2016!). Is it possible that by this time the Jure Sanguinis law will no longer be valid for citizenship? I've been very worried about this!!

Everything is possible, but there has not been a lot of traction on the elimination of jus sanguinis.

It may be more likely that Italy would add jus soli in addition to jus sanguinis and/or that they may tighten-up the requirements for jus sanguinis applicants. But, really, who can guess what the Italian legislature might do in the next year (or two or three)?

Is there a particular reason why you are delaying your application?

The most obvious reason; This is clearly going to cost a good amount of time and money, and now probably isn't the best time. (If I can manage, I'm going to shoot for 2012) Anyway, it's been around for over 17 years with little change, Right? Knock on wood it lasts another 2. Thanks again.
