Hi there,

I have dual citizenship already (Italian and Brazilian). I live in USA and next year I will be eligible for an American Citizenship.
I am not sure if I can keep three citizenships. May I have your help please?

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, the US still requires naturalization applicants to renounce all other citizenships ("I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen;...").

It is my understanding that Italy ignores this renunciation and thus continues to recognize your Italian citizenship unless you specifically renounce it in front of an official of the Italian government, typically a consulate or embassy official. I believe there is now a fee of euro200 for this service.

You would need to determine whether Brazil recognizes the US oath as an actual renunciation of Brazillian citizenship, or ignores it as Italy (and many other countries) does.
