Italian Consulate in Los Angeles

Postby djl58 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:55 am

Any experiences with the Consulate in Los Angeles? I have all my paper work, but like many have a few minor issues. First, the birth date of my grandfather is one day earlier on his birth certificate than on his naturalization papers and death certificate. Also, his name whas Giacinto, which is on his Birth, Marriage and Naturalization certificate, but was often called Charles which is on his death certificate as well as the birth certificate of my father. Lastly, my father's name appears as Guiseppe on his birth certificate, Joseph, Joseph Patsy, and Joseph P. elsewhere. From what I am reading these may or may not be issues. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I went through LA. I had some of the same simliar issues but iwth the non italian side. However my ggrandafathers name on his b.c. was Arcangelo, and everrything else was angelo it was ok.

But Charles is listed, however does your grandma name match on Gianciatos marriage and death certificate? Is he the appropriate age when your father was born?

My gmas mom her name was all screwed up b.c. said Giovannina, marriage said Giovanna, on gmas b.c. said Genini and then on my ggrandpa death it said Jennie. LA is pretty flexible than most other consulates that i hear of. as long as there is efficeint evidence that the grandfather matches all the other way it probably will be ok

and like i said Giuseppe, is known for being shortred to JOe.

Marriage Cert is exact as Birth Cert for both. Death changes his name to Charles and omits her middle name. All the ages, for Marriage, birth, death, match up. I also have the application for naturalization where my father is listed with his birth date (one day off). As you say LA is reasonable, I believe none of this should be a problem, but you never know. Cross my fingers and hope for the best. Thanks.
