Qualifying for education and healthcare...?

Postby Katie19 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 1:53 pm

Hi there, thanks for giving me your time. I was born in Brazil and I have an Italian/European citizenship. I have been living in America for the past 9 years and next month I am moving to England. I was just wondering if you could help me to understand what I qualify for in terms of education and health care, considering I haven't actually ever lived in Europe?

Thank you =]

Hi Katie,

In short, you qualify for the whole shebang. Your healthcare will be free, although certain dental procedures, etc. are not covered. My experience is that you sometimes need to be very demanding of the doctors in England to get what you need. Not always, but sometimes, and the system there is definitely underrated by Americans in my experience. Exaggerate your symptoms if need be if you believe that you are not getting the care you need.

I believe that you also qualify for education at the same price as native citizens. The quality of education varies. If you choose the right program, you can get top quality education.

Let me know if I can help in any other way. I lived in London for 7 years.
